There have been many and serious changes in the labor laws of UAE. This has been done so that employment can be boosted in the country, the Ministry of Labour said.
The long list of amendments includes providing for work permit to the minors (the ones aged between 15-18 years) and also for the expatriates. Lowering of fines on the employers in case of violation of the laws and also reducing the cost of labor between two companies have also been incorporated.
But the ministry has also stressed on the fact that each and every working person in the country needs to have their valid labor card and valid residency visa. These should also be duly signed by the authorities. All those people who are unregistered till now need to get registered soon.
As for the work permit for minors, it has been made a rule that such permissions are going to be done only when they have the necessary approval from their guardian and have a valid residency visa along with a proof of their nationality.
One of the major changes is that employment fee for many categories has been reduced.
