Some 6,000 shops have been planned to be set up and discounts up to 74 per cent will be offered during the fest. Talking about it, Ibrahim Al Saleh, the festival coordinator said that not only jewelry but also luxury cars and other expensive items are going to go up for sale in the shopping bonanza.
Urging the people of Saudi to come and visit the festival he said that Dubai has of late developed as a key shopping destination for the people of Saudi Arabia. In the first half of 2010 alone, 230,000 nationals from the Gulf region visited the place.
As compared to 2009, this is a rise of no less than 25 per cent. He further added that the shopping festival's main aim is to attract tourist and also increase tourist export.
This year's shopping festival is going to be titled as 'one world. one family' and will be held for more than a month's time.
