Heritage Camel race takes place Ai DhafrahThe festival of Ai Dhafrah started last Thursday. One of the most popular games of this festival is the heritage camel race which will be held on Friday at Madinat Zayed, this festival will end on Saturday.

This prestigious festival is organized by an organization of Abu Dhabi named Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach) under the clear permission from the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, General Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed force.

The applicants for the racers are only from the citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, aged between 18 to 70. Only healthy and competent camels can participate in the race. The camel jockeys are requested to wear protective stuff including a helmet.

There are different laps in this sporting event. Age group of participants is divided as follows. Players with 18-30 age groups will take part into a lap of 6 kilometres.

In addition, those who have crossed 31 age bar and touched 49 years will participate into second lap of 4 km. The last lap of 600 meters is for players whose age is between 50 and 70.
