It was put forward by Foreign Ministry's vide minister Panich Vikitsreth recently that concerns were displayed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday that Dubai was used as base by fugitive Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra to speak to his supporters, before they submitted a petition seeking royal pardon for him on Monday.
Panich said that the video link of Thaksin clearly showed that he spoke from Dubai, in spite of the fact that Thaksin was previously warned that he should not use the country as a political base to condemn Thailand and the government.
He explained: “Earlier UAE government had talked to Khun Thaksin and warned him about the matter. UAE also sent a document concerning the meeting with Thaksin to the Thai government.”
As a result, now what is important is that the UAE government should take an action on the matter so that it would not have an effect on the mutual relationship.
He said: “We already contacted UAE government on Monday and it promised us that such incident would not happen again. We will wait and see.”
