While attempting to get hold of sustainable livestock development in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, more than half a million livestock have yet got registered with the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority’s Animal Identification and Registration System (AIR).
The records of the ADFCA tell that approximately 528,485 livestock got registered with the latest AIR system.
Solely the emirate of Abu Dhabi itself made up 80% of the net UAE livestock.
AIR is targeted to having an effective follow up and evaluation report regarding the traceability of animal diseases, removal programmes and traceability of food production.
It would make sure that the veterinary services would be successful in telling the infected animals from the others and trace and account for the movement of every animal if there was an outbreak.
The AIR field phase which had begun on 12th October will get over by February next year, while the completion of project activities has been planned out for 12th August, 2012.
The intention under the currently on project is that all the imported and exported livestock in the emirate have to get tagged.
This is hoped to serve the economic and social purpose.
