As per a report published by the Khaleej Times, the minister of labor Mr Saqr Ghobash has announced that all the workers who have expired job contracts can get obtain new work when they shift on to other employer. For this act they are not going be charged with any legal offense.
The landmark decision has been done with an aim to bring about flexibility in the labor market. Earlier, such workers who had their work permit expired used to face a ban of six months before getting consent of his sponsor.
The new regulation is going to be applied from January 1 of next year after getting the implementation of Cabinet Resolution 25 of 2010.
As soon as the new regulation is applied it will soon replace the old one and all the expatriate workers are going to come under the umbrella. The new rule says that new employment permit will be granted to workers after he/she ends his/her employment card.
During the whole period they will not be imposed with a ban of six months. This gives greater freedom to the labor class.
