New School model scrutinized

ADECAs soon as the last days of the new school model come to an end, there will be a thorough study of the performance of it so that the problems can be pinpointed and resolved.

Data has shown that every year some 10,000 pupils leave state schools still looking for remedial English classes. They are in need for such help even before they can join university degree courses.

When the system was studied it was found that there is a lack of properly trained teachers in the public schools. A research even showed that in the Abu Dhabi University many of the teachers were working without their own degrees in place.

On similar lines was a report published by consultancy, Deloitte that reported that teachers were recruited from the lower side of university graduates. At this moment, the focus is on quantity and not quality. But without proper faculties in place, the students are unlikely to be up-to-date.

In answer to these, Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) had come up with the New School Model. In it more emphasis was given to teaching English and other core subjects.
