According to a new UN agreement, UAE is going to have new multibillion-dollar plans for building up carbon-capture network in the UAE. But it is still in plan form and would be sometime before the plans take up some shape.
However, on the other hand the companies are not yet sure what is going to be the exact shape of the N carbon credit programme. Details like how credit is going to be made available for sale has not been told either.
Inclusion of the carbon capture and storage (CCS) took place on Saturday during the UN negotiations in Cancun. And it is important for the region particularly for Masdar, which is the green energy company in Abu Dhabi.
Masdar had been depending on adoption of international green technology methods for getting its business and make up a multibillion-dollar carbon-capture network in the UAE.
Said Keristofer Seryani, manager of commercial development at Masdar, that carbon credit is going to provide financial support not only for the company but for the region as well. The company plans to get some 800,000 tons of credit from Emirates Steel plant alone.
