On Tuesday there was an inauguration of newly-built bridge and connecting roads and flyovers by the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City. It is at Mafraq junction near the Abu Dhabi International Airport for traffic.
The total cost of making the bridge and the roads is Dh830 million. This connects different places like Al Ain Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Ghuwaifat in Al Gharbia previously Western Region lying on Saudi border.
The municipality declared that the termination of all construction works at the junctions which have been opened in phases. It consists of 27 lanes with a total aptitude of 24,000 vehicles per hour.
Dual bridge of Dubai-Al Ghuwaifat Highway is one of the important transport projects of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is 75 metre long and comprises of eight lanes four in every direction.
It has eight pillars at a span of 25 metre and the bridge is 54 metre and 10 metre in width and height respectively.
Engineer Abdullah Al Shamsi, temporary Executive Director of Municipal Infrastructure and Assets Sector, assumed that the project comes in the perspective of the municipality’s multiple helps and new projects to extend the city.
