The GCC again reiterated its unfaltering support on Tuesday to the sovereignty of the UAE regarding its three islands of the Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa which have been illegally occupied by Iran.
In a communiqué released at the finish of the 31st summit, the GCC leaders were hell-bent on supporting the UAE’s right to get back its sovereignty on the three islands and on the territorial waters, the airspace, the continental shelf, and the economic zone of the three islands, since they form an integral part of the United Arab Emirates.
The President of UAE, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was the chairman of the two-day meeting, announced the conclusion of the GCC summit.
The leaders showed their dissatisfaction over the fact that their continuous contacts with the Islamic Republic of Iran have not led to any positive result which may contribute to the resolution of the issue.
The ultimate statement of the summit in Abu Dhabi asked Iran to commit itself to the basic principles of promoting good-neighborliness, mutual respect for each other, non-interference, solving of disputes via peaceful methods and controlling from the use of or threaten to use force for that purpose.
