Aerospace manufacturing industry is where Abu Dhabi has entered lately as its first consignment of the manufactured units was exported. The order was from Austrian aircraft maker, FACC and the units were made in Al Ain, the facility in Abu Dhabi.

This is part of the diversification on the economic front that under the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030. The aircraft manufacturing is in the field of lighter and composite material. Known as STRATA, the aerostructures are wholly-owned and developed by Mubadala Development Company. The first consignment was sent in September.

One should remember that the production and the shipment took place only in three months as the unit in Al Ain had started its operations in July. But the project for the same was announced way back in 2008.

The first produce are going to be used in the A330/A340 flap track fairings and it will cater to the requirements of A330, A340, A380 flap track fairings besides providing spoilers for A330 and A340.

But the good news is that STRATA is moving into several international agreements. The phase two of construction will begin in 2012.
