Handset maker, Sony Ericsson, which has been successful in the smartphone market with its Android based devices, has indicated that the Android 2.1 upgrade for Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 handset will offer limited multi-touch on the device.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 users are receiving the Android 2.1 from the company as well as mobile operators. Rikard Skogberg wrote on company’s Product Blog that the company is also planning to enable multi-touch in an OTA update for the X10, which is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2011.
The functionality will be limited offering pinch/zoom in the web browser, pinch/zoom in Google Maps, and support in some third party apps. Skogberg noted that ‘The digitizer in the X10 is not perfect when it comes to multi-touch’ and this some times cause strange behaviors when two fingers cross each other at some points.
