Reports suggest that Qatar is planning to scrap the controversial sponsorship system. This is being done so that more control over the foreign workers could be achieved. This is being done after taking a cue from other nations like Bahrain and Kuwait.

Experts believe that such a move is going to be beneficial for the Indian workers who want to go to the country. The announcement was made in Doha and Qatari Prime Minister Shaikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani said that the government is seriously looking into the matter and there are some legal issues that need to be sorted out first.

The PM who is also the foreign minister for Qatar that the issue was of high importance for Qatar as it is looking after its domestic affair more and more.

In an interview given to the Qatar News Agency, he said, "The government is studying very carefully the issue to ensure that the rights of Qatari citizens, employees and those who come to work in Qatar are all preserved. There is a crucial need to ensure there is balance between all rights".
