An extensive survey done by government has shown the real scale of the impressive economic growth that has been shown by Abu Dhabi. The study was done by Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (SCAD) The study showed that the number of buildings in emirates has gone up by 43 per cent to end at 165,071 in the last five years.
During the same period it was also found that the number of employees went up by as much as 80 per cent to be at 81,229.
The rise was seen in both the public as well as private sector. Besides this, the survey also showed how much dynamic the property and business sectors of the nation have become. 40,500 construction units have become vacant and close to 10,000 other buildings are under construction in the economy.
76 per cent of the total employers in the country took less than 5 persons as their staff and only 4.2 per cent had more than 50 employees in their payroll. Importance of the survey is that it is for the first time that the government is going to have a population census and the survey was the first stage of that.
