Natixis and Goldman to clash in British court

Natixis-Goldman-SachsNatixis, the French investment bank and the Goldman Sachs, the US financial mammoth are set to clash in a British court. This is because Natixis wants one of the credit derivatives deal that it had with Goldman get scrapped.

But the point of conflict is not Natixis. It is French retail bank BPCE which is the majority owner in Natixis and wants to cancel the transaction that it had on three credit default swaps with Goldman. But doing that would mean a breach of contract and that is why, the court case.

As of now November 9 has been decided as the date when the clash will take place in London's High Court. This also coincides with the date when Natixis is going to declare its third quarter results.

But all this while the value of the, deal was not revealed. Also Goldman refused to comment on the issue. But Natixis has said that it is going to fight the case vigorously through its law firm, Stephenson Harwood.

This case is a part of the long list where several banks have found themselves to be involved in risky lawsuits and look for means to put the blame on someone else.
