A newly upgraded redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 2 tool can be used by both Mac and Windows users to easily jailbreak their devices running on iOS 4.1, according to the developers.
The iPhone Dev Team said that the redsn0w jailbreak will enables users to jailbreak iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G, as well as Apple TV 2G. the team incorporated geohot's limera1n exploit into redsn0w and also added some extra functionality, some which are aimed specifically on some devices.
The tool authors said that the specially built functionality is for custom bootlogos of iPhone3G/ iPhone3GS/iPod2G and also for an option to implement DFU button in PwnageTool. The DFU button allows users to prepare their device for a custom DFU. The users can run PwnageTool on their IPSW to create a custom IPSW.
Apple has repeatedly said that jailbreaking violates its rights however the authorities in the US declared a few months ago that jailbreaking is not illegal. Apple maintains that any attempt to jailbreak could leave the device dysfunctional and it also voids company warranty.
