Reportedly, there has been an explosion at the Swiss embassy in Athens. Quite a few suspicious packages have been discovered at other important buildings of the city. It is believed that French First Man Nicolas Sarkozy was one of the intended targets.
A suspicious looking package was also found by the police addressed to the Bulgarian embassy in Greece's capital. It even responded to the metal detector when tested.
When the apparent "sender" of the parcel was interrogated by the Bulgarians, he denied having ever sending such a parcel in the first place.
Meanwhile, the Greek authorities were congratulated by the Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov for their quick actions.
However, there have been uncontrolled explosions taking place elsewhere around the Greek capital.
One such was a small bomb that burst at the Swiss embassy in Athens without any warning. No injuries have been reported, though.
Earlier, on 1st November, a dubious looking package had been found addressed to President Sarkozy were intercepted by the Greek authorities, while another package had exploded at a courier company in the Greece's capital city, injuring a worker.
The police suspect a far-Left Greek guerrilla organisation behind these explosions. Two suspects have been arrested.
