History of the French Hedge fund business modelAt the start of the present decade, the funds of funds, hedge funds started attracting the French investors as per Sophie Van Straelen, who is the founder of the Asterias, a hedge fund consultant firm.

Traditionally, the French have always bought computer-driven hedge funds or futures, but in the end of 1990s, due the unsatisfactory performance of the fund, they began to invest their funds elsewhere.

According to Asteria, the assets supervised by the hedge funds gave the yield of 25% to 30% per year between 2002 and 2007. Olivier Florin who is head of development and partner in a Paris firm, Eraam, of hedge funds firm said that French people invested a pile into hedge fund. Some hedge funds, which included the largest hedge funds, were distributed and sol d in market as money market plus funds.

Some French Banks created the products, which were based upon the hedge funds and sold them to various clients for e. g. insurance companies. Until the financial crises, which turned into recession, the growth of the fund continued .When many fund managers couldn’t provide the result, the investors got disappointed.
