Buncombe deputy gets its name on the French Broad bridge

French Broad bridgeWhile close to 175 people attended the ceremony which was focusing on dedicate a new Long Shoals Road Bridge over the French board River in the memory of Sgt. Jeff Hewitt, a Buncombe County sheriff. It is to be mentioned here that the sergeant died in the line of duty in 2004 who was a hero that made a lot of difference.

Sheriff Van Duncan said at a ceremony that the bridge has got a lot of things common with Jeff Hewitt. It may be noted here that Duncan has worked with Hewitt in the past.

He also said that the bridge is strong and sturdy which has a thing common with Jeff wherein the officials of the company hardly used to worry when he was around in the company.

It may be recalled here that Hewitt was fatally shot at a point of time when he was trying to serve involuntary commitment papers on a man who was mentally incompetent.

Tracie Hewitt said that Jeff sometimes used to call her and say that he is on a bridge and will be reaching home shortly.
