DGCA launches probe into diversion of GoAir flight

DGCA launches probe into diversion of GoAir flight On Saturday Aviation regulator DGCA commenced a query into the distraction of GoAir's Lucknow- Delhi flight to Patna to hold Haj pilgrims here.

Officials said that whereas the private carrier had taken agreement for switching yesterday's Lucknow-Delhi flight to Patna from air traffic control and Airports Authority of India, it did not perform so from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) which approves flight agenda.

The officials assumed that the causes for not in service of Delhi-Patna-Delhi and not achieving clearance from DGCA for diverting Delhi- Lucknow -Delhi to Delhi-Lucknow-Patna-Delhi is being inspected.

The diversion caused over three hours delay. For this passenger set off protests and claimed they were not informed of it and had missed linking flights to other destinations from Delhi.

The officials said that yesterday GoAir had premeditated to operate three flights on Delhi-Patna-Delhi sector to convey about 450 Haj Pilgrims. The aircraft was to operate pass services from Delhi past midnight. The Civil Aviation Ministry and the DGCA approved these maneuvers.

However due poor visibility at Patna Airport, the ferry aircraft was not send out from Delhi as it was scheduled. Due to the hindrance caused by low visibility which improved in the small hours, only two flights were sent to Patna to bring Haj pilgrims to Delhi.
