Dearth of mobile software developers and designers

mobile softwareThere is a dearth of mobile software developers and designers according to a recent survey by online job board Dice Holdings.

Dice interviewed 283 recruiters between October 11-15 all sported at least one mobile software-related hire. Approximately 57 percent added that they are aiming to increase the recruits within the next 12 months, and one-fifth anticipated "substantial hiring" by the coming year.

But nearly half of the respondents described the supply of the talent pool as "scarce."

Steve Fredrick founder of job site StartUpHire, said, "There just aren't that many people who have experience with mobile software, and there's a desire for people who know how to make that work," reports told Bloomberg Businessweek. com.

Jeremy Stoppelman, co-founder and chief executive of Yelp, further explains, "If you're doing searches for people with iPhone experience, it isn't going to be a deep pool of people," he said. "We just look for good engineers."

It was added that Thirty-eight percent valued iPhone to be the best, which was backed by 23 percent declaring Google Android knowhow. Meanwhile the present stats claim that 72 percent of recruiters are opting for iPhone app development and 38 percent for Android. This comes as a reform in the coming few years as Android compared to other operating systems.
