Doctor found guilty of acting irresponsibly

Doctor found guilty of acting irresponsiblyA Spanish trained doctor in Jersey during a routine operation on a woman who later died has been found guilty of acting irresponsibly.

Elizabeth Rouke's vein was hit a vein during an operation to remove a uterine polyp by Dr Dolores Moyano Ontiveros and she later died.

Due to inadequate experience, the General Medical Council said Dr Ontiveros risked Rouke's life. The doctor also confessed to have made an error while taking judgment while carrying out the operation.

It was stated by the GMC fitness to practice hearing that the doctor did an irresponsible act that claimed a patient's life.

The General Medical Council was told by Dr Ontiveros that due to the doctor not working in gynecology since 2002, she was concerned.

The doctor has also denied that the patient's uterus was perforated by her which the GMC hearing is considering whether she perforated it or not.

Dr Ontiveros in January 2009 was found not guilty of the patient's manslaughter.

Rouke died in October 2006 due to massive hemorrhaging.

Dr John Day was being assisted by the doctor on the day but he left the hospital before Rourke was seen as she was the last patient to be seen.
