On Monday, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) asked the government to do away with the price deregulation of petrol. They have started asking for these after the oil companies increased their prices thrice in a period of just three weeks.
The CPI (M) politburo said, "By deregulating petrol pricing, the government has opened the way for successive hikes in prices."
The statement also said that the public sector oil companies have raised petrol price by 70 paise to 72 paise per litre. This happened after a 27 paise rise in petrol per liter in September. In the last week alone, the price has gone up by Re.1 per litre,
The left aligned party also said that rising petrol prices also add to inflation which is constantly making the people suffer. And since there is no transparency in the decision making, the things are becoming bad to worse.
Price of petrol which was administered by the government till now has now been shifted to the deregulation means since the government wanted the price to be aligned to the international means.
