According to report, the Commonwealth Games countries are home to 64 percent of the world's underweight children with India toting up the largest number.
The report said that thirty percent of the world's population lives in the 54 different countries that make up the Commonwealth and 64 percent of the world's malnourished children. It refers to 'Commonwealth or Common Hunger'.
It was highlighted by the report that India is the country with the highest numbers and the highest proportion of underweight children. The hosts for 19th Commonwealth Games is published by NGO 'Save the Children'
In India Almost half of 55 million children who are under-fives are malnourished, almost seven million of them with severe sensitive malnutrition. Intimately next to India are its neighbors, Bangladesh and Pakistan with undernourishment rate of 41 percent and 31 percent respectively.
Thomas Chandy, chief executive officer of the Save the Children said that by hosting the Commonwealth Games against all probability, India has revealed that with political willpower, it can rise above problems and find solutions.
