Oman Telecommunications (Omantel) has announced that its profit has witnessed a slump of 3.26% in the second quarter as it faced more competition in its home market.

The company said that it had clocked a net profit of OR73.038 million in the six months ended June 30, compared with OR74.77 million a year ago. Company's net income in the three months to June was OR35.14 million in the second quarter, decline 3.26% from the year-ago period.

Omantel registered a net profit of OR36.36 million in the second quarter of 2008. Profit figure stood at OR37.94 million in the first quarter of current year.
