DEA to collect unused drugs on Saturday

DEA to collect unused drugs on SaturdayPrescription drugs leftovers are not always safe and they are a cause for most drug deaths in Washington. They are often found very easily at homes where one can find cabinets containing leftover Vicodin or Valium tablets.

Stories of people snatching few pills from every bottle are often told by drug counselors and addiction specialists.

It is often seen that teens in their own homes steal pills and sell them to a friend or for their own consumption and they do not realize that mixing drugs with alcohol is not safe and can have a hazardous impact.

It is often seen that drugs can not be disposed of properly and can go into wrong hands easily.

Disposing of drugs by throwing them into a toilet leads to fish getting poisoned or water gets poisoned. When it comes to safety, then garbage is surely not safe. The worst is that controlled substances such as painkillers or muscle relaxants are not taken by pharmacies also.

But on Saturday you will have a safe option to dispose them safely. In Seattle the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration will join other local agencies across the nation to take your unwanted prescription drugs and that too without you proving your identity or answering any questions and that too for free.

You can give the drugs from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m., but illegal drugs and needles will not be accepted. The collected drugs will then be taken to an undisclosed location and burnt there after.
