A recent research stated that dieting does not mean weight loss for everyone as four out of ten women finish their diet heavier than when they started.
An average female dieter gained about 5.2lbs after finishing dieting as their willpower gives it up to sustain having little.
It was also stated that just after 21 days from reaching ideal weight, women started putting weight and these women formed a large percentage.
Attitudes, behaviors and beliefs of about 2000 women who diet regularly were asked. These women were all aged between 18 and 65. About six out of ten stated that they were on a diet and one out of five stated that she was following a continuous diet.
It was also seen that on out of 10 dieters gave it up just after one day of their diet plan and one with a fifth making it to a week or more.
Dr Ian Campbell of the Jenny Craig weight management program said, "In the UK 61.4 per cent of adults are overweight or obese. Successful weight management requires a long-term commitment in order to lose weight successfully and for good."
