A warning has been issued by the US Food and Drug Administration, FDA, about Estrella Family Creamery cheeses being contaminated with a dangerous bacterium known as Listeria Monocytogenes.
The entire range of Estrella Family Creamery cheeses is included in the warning given by the FDA.
Consumers are being urged to not consume these cheeses and dispose them off with immediate effect.
It is believed that Listeria Monocytogenes can be a reason for several illnesses. And for young kids these illnesses can be fatal too. Also elderly people and those with weak immune systems should avoid these products.
Severe headache, fever, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhoea are the symptoms of Listeria Monocytogenes.
Others who should be careful of this bacterium are pregnant women as still births can be caused by infection and miscarriages are also possible. Infection in newborn is also possible. In the US around 500 deaths in the US each year are also attributed to Listeriosis.
Consumers are being urged to seek medical attention if they experience any of the above symptoms after consuming the products.
