Mangalore police has said that all cyber café owners must maintain records of users visiting the café or they will face charges.
Deputy Commissioner of Police R Ramesh has expressed that the owners should collect all the information about their customers as this will help them catch those users who use their services to commit cyber crimes.
In an event organized jointly by the Mangalore City Police and the Ideacts Innovations, developers of Clinck cyber cafe manager (CCCM) software on Monday, Ramesh said that hackers can use cyber cafes to transfer money after staling bank account details or send threatening emails and in the case the owner will be booked if proper details of customers are not maintained.
According to the officials from Ideacts Innovations, the CCCM provides cyber cafes with user-friendly software which helps in accounting, terminal management and user data storage and also allows the owners to provide maximum information about the customers. The software can give a user Id to the customers which can be used allover the country in partner cafes using the same software.
The software also stores customer information like photo, identity card, address, contacts, e-register in the CLINCK servers allowing authorities to catch cyber criminals trying to use cafes for illegal purposes.
“Cyber cafe owners can install software called CLINCK cyber cafe manager, which was launched by Ideacts Innovations Pvt Ltd, India’s largest cyber cafe solutions company, which will also help in national security by securing their cafes”, he Mr. Ramesh.
