The World Suicide Prevention Day is on September 10 and wherever you are you can show your support by lighting a candle near your window at 8 pm.
This activity is taking place for the first time on this day that is observed annually.
The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) is the organizer of this activity as it launches “Light a Candle on World Suicide Prevention Day at 8 PM" and urges everyone to remember a lost loved one and show sympathy for survivors by lighting a candle near a window at 8 pm.
Many Faces, Many Places: Suicide Prevention Across the World, is the theme of this year.
Worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides is promoted on this day according to the World Health Organization.
Provision of adequate treatment and follow-up care for people who attempted suicide, reporting the mishap in the media and prevention of suicidal behaviour is being advocated by the event.
The WHO added that about 3,000 people commit suicide daily. And 20 pr more people attempts suicides for every person who completes a suicide.
