Two doctors asked to stop doing abortions

Maryland-health-officialsTwo doctors have been ordered by the Maryland health officials to stop conducting abortions following a woman who suffered critical injuries while she was undergoing the procedure last month.

Dr. Steven Brigham has been asked by the state Board of Physicians to stop practicing medicine in Maryland without a license and Dr. Nicola Riley’s license was suspended.

One of Brigham's offices in Elkton was raided by the police as they wanted to look for some medical records and dozens of late-term fetuses were found by the police in a freezer at a clinic.

According to the board's orders, an injured 18-year-old woman was brought by Riley and Brigham to Union Hospital in Elkton in a personal vehicle after a failed abortion on August 13.

The 18 year old was found to have a uterine perforation when she was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

A complaint against Riley was filed by a Hopkins doctor and the injuries of the woman were repaired along with a general surgeon.

The board’s order states, “Brigham is licensed in New Jersey, but not Maryland. Riley has a license in Maryland, but poses a threat to her patients' safety and well-being and thereby represents a danger to the public.”
