Students find malware on CAT official siteStudents who logged on to the official site of Common Admission Test 2010 were shocked to know that the site was laden by malware program that could affect their systems.

The official site www. cat iim. in was found to be hosting malware files on Wednesday, just two days after the sale of CAT 2010 vouchers and online registration started. The malware reminds the Virus attack that took pale previous year during CAT 2009.

The site was affected on Tuesday night and infected a number of visitors. The users who went to site saw a pop up which read, "This web page at catiim. in has been reported as an attack page and has been blocked based on your security preferences."

Google search mechanism also stated that the page would be dangerous for the computer. CAT applicants use the site for all details like dates and other information.

"The site was infected with malware during uploading of some pages on Monday. But all the registration data is safe, as this site it does not store or contain any candidate information. This is only an information site. For online registration, aspirants need to visit https :// iim. prometric. com, which is a completely secure site," said chairman of the CAT 2010 committee, Himanshu Rai of IIM- Lucknow.

The company responsible for the conduct of CAT, Prometric based in the US released a statement, "Prometric has been investigating reports that IIM's CAT website www. catiim. in has been displaying warning messages on certain browsers.”

The company has advised users to use certified users like Internet Explorer version 7 or above, or Firefox version 3.0 and above.
