Females can get knee injury more than men in football

knee-injuryIt has been stated after a research that women are more prone to knee injury while paying games like football as compared to men.

The reason was spotted when significant differences in knee alignment and muscle activation between men and women while kicking a ball were found by researchers.

orthopedic surgeon Robert Brophy of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, and the study author said, "By analyzing the detailed motion of a soccer kick in progress, our goal was to home in on some of the differences between the sexes and how they may relate to injury risk.”

It was found by Brophy and his colleagues from the Motion Analysis Laboratory and Sports Medicine Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York found that hip flexors were activated by male players. These flexors are inside the hip in their kicking leg. As compared to women men also used hip abductors outside of the hip in their supporting leg.

Brophy added, "Activation of the hip abductors may help protect players against ACL injury."
