Scottish ministers clued about data losses The ongoing breach of the police and the NHS over the high profile security measures in regard of the Information Commissioner’s Office has resulted in to an array of issues, according to the details released by Lib Dems according to the freedom of information act.

BBC claims that Scottish ministers have been given a warning against all security norms, pertaining to the amount of public sector technology and information which supposedly is missing as per the findings of the report.

The claims include the loss of electronic devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones which are filled with important information pertaining to patients, police investigations and other sensitive details.

According to the BBC article, the Lib Dems states that in the first half of 2010, seven NHS areas have been logged and a huge number of missing equipments have had been put in which carried information of patients’ medical records.

Meanwhile many claim it to be nothing much of a surprise as NHS was tainted as one of the worst offenders of UK when it came in favor of data breaches, and ICO backing support had stated that it came up with
1,000 notifications of serious security leaks back in May of this year.

A statement by the Scottish government official stated: “We expect the same high standards of public sector bodies. However, it remains the responsibility of individual police forces, local authorities and health boards to ensure that personal or sensitive information is stored securely.”
