At Waikato Hospital the visiting time for visitors will soon be reduced from what it is at the moment as there have been complaints from patients stating that visitors were noisy.
Next week a six-week trial will start in which visitors will visit the hospital only 11am and 1.30 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm.
Earlier this time was 9 am to 8 pm and visitors were allowed in most circumstances. Waikato District Health Board nursing and midwifery director Sue Hayward said that it was stated by patients in a survey that they wanted to recover fast for which they needed more rest.
She added, "I've had letters from people who were patients saying visitors needed reminding there are sick people in hospital."
There will be an exception in some cases and the hospital would be flexible in some cases.
There will be six hours meant for visitors coming in to meet people admitted to the hospital as quality care is needed by patients and also resting time.
This change will follow the general practice in a majority of hospitals in the country.
The change would also be for the food visitors can take inside the hospital wards.
