The government of UK has warned that the private toll roads are not the cost effective solution to the increasing traffic problems. According to the report of the Campaign for Better Transport (CBT), the only private toll road of UK, M6 Toll has not cut congestion significantly.
As per the reports of the CBT the owners of the tolls lose tens of millions of pounds on the road near Birmingham. The Midland Expressway which is run by M6 Toll has refused to comment on this issue.
CBT has advised the government of UK not to look at the privately financed schemes as a solution to the economic problems of the country. The CBT has argued that the quality of journey on M6 improved slightly in last seven year since the tool was opened but the drivers are charged with 5 pounds per car for using the road.
As per the reports of CBT, the toll roads were failed to improve the transport in the West Midlands and it also added that the drivers were not getting the value for their money.
