A team of researchers from the Mangal Panchaytan Parishad have found over six-crore-year-old fossils of banana leaves, peepal and coconut trees in Dhar district near Indore.
The head of the group, Vishal Varma expressed that they found conch-shaped organisms buried for a long time. These organisms are found on water and grass. The group has searched the same place for dinasour eggs and its bones.
The state government of Madhya Pradesh has planned to build a fossil park in the area. Earlier the researched had found proofs of the presence of a lake spreading in an eight km area which was submerged by volcano's lava.
The discovery of the fossils indicates that the area was rich in bio diversity.
