If you drink water before a meal then you can lose weight, as claimed by researchers.
But the quantity of water that is consumed before meal should be at least 16 ounces.
Two groups comprising older adults were put to test for finding this and these people were on a low-fat diet. About 50 per cent of them consumed about 16 ounce of water before eating and the rest remaining did not.
It was observed that 40 per cent more weight was lost by those who drank the water after three months, and weight was kept off after a year by people who consumed water before eating.
The reason behind this is that due to water filling the space in your stomach, you tend to eat less and thus consume lesser calories.
Scientists from Virginia stated that drinking two glasses of water three times a day before meals helped you losing an average of 5lb extra.
Water has zero calories and after drinking when you feel full, you have consumed zero calories. But experts added that too much of water could also lead to serious problems.
