Queensland Premier Anna Bligh has hopes regarding the Palm Island death in custody investigation that it would get resolved soon.
It was ruled on Thursday by the Supreme Court Justice Peter Lyons that the responsibility of deciding what disciplinary action must be taken against the officers should be given to someone other than Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson.
Reports stated that due to it being perceived that the commissioner was biased, the job was best left to another senior police officer.
The ruling suggests that the police service must find ways to deal with officers involved in flawed investigations into Cameron Doomadgee's death on the floor of the Palm Island watchhouse in 2004.
Bligh stated that with this she hopes that the matter would now be resolved quickly.
She added, "I want to see it resolved fairly for the officers concerned but I do want to see a very rigorous disciplinary process. These are serious issues - serious issues for the police service and serious issues for those who were affected by the tragedy on Palm Island in 2004."
Bligh supports CMC boss Martin Moynihan for him being critical of the police's attitude regarding the investigation.
She said, "I expect them to have a good, professional, working relationship."
