A 16-year-old boy has been charged of stealing a taxi and robbing the taxi driver at gun point and that too a toy gun.
According to police reports, the boy was picked up from Joondalup on Wednesday at about 10:15p.m. (WST).
The boy pulled out his toy gun when the destination was reached. He then told the driver to give him money.
The sources added that after the boy got money from the cabbie, he asked the driver to get down from the car and the boy drove away the car.
The cab was spotted by police sometime later and then the cab was chased across the city to the southern suburb of Canning Vale. The teenager dumped the car here and tried to run but was nabbed soon.
The boy will appear in Perth Children’s Court on Friday charged with armed robbery and stealing a motor vehicle.
The thing that is bothering everyone is that a teenager did this with a toy gun. And the taxi driver could not figure out that it was not real.
