Sony Ericsson is set to launch three new smartphones, Yendo, Cedar and Xperia X8 in the Indian market by September 2010. The new devices will be entry level 3G smartphone based on different platforms and a host of new features.
Yendo smartphone walkman series will be the first full touch screen phone in the series and will feature four corner touch user interface, 2 megapixel camera with 4X digital zoom. Yendo has a 2.6-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 320 X 420 pixels and come with 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth, micro USB connector, USB mass storage and modem.
The walkman series is known for its appealing music features and the device offers FM radio, music player, walkman player, MP3/AAC tones and a Bluetooth A2DP stereo.
The new Xperia X8 has a 3-inch HVGA capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and 3.2 megapixel camera. The device is powered by 600MHz processor and runs on Android OS 1.6.
The device offers networking connectivity through Timescape and other multimedia features like music player with PlayNow and TrackID, Web browser, FM radio. As for connectivity it offers, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It has an internal memory of 128MB which can be expanded to 2GB through a microSD card.
The new Cedar has 2.2-inch display and a 2 mega pixel camera. It offers 3G connectivity and access to social networking sites through Widget Manager 2.0 and 3.5mm headphone jack. The battery of the phone offers a talk time of up to 4 hours.
"We continue to offer an amalgamation of communication and entertainment by fusing together best quality touch screen experience, in the second half of the year," said Sony Ericsson India Marketing head Anurag Kunto.
