New figures have stated that there has been a rise in the number of children getting treated at Norfolk's biggest accident and emergency unit following drinking and the figures have gone very high in five years.
An alcohol overdose was reported in children as young as 12. And a lot of youngsters have come to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital's accident and emergency department for injuries such as head injuries and broken limbs following intoxication.
It is asked from people who are taken in to the A&E department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital about their alcohol consumption and it has often been admitted by under 18-year-olds since 2005 that they have consumed alcohol.
About 70 youngsters were admitted due to alcohol consumption in 2005 to 2006 and there has been a rise in this number every year since that reached 249 in 2009 until now.
According to the hospital staff there has been a rise in young people drinking and that too at home.
Children as young as 12 are admitted to hospital following an alcohol overdose and that too so much that they need treatment.
Barry Sharpe, operational assistant in emergency services at the N&N said, “We have been recording this for the past seven years and the numbers are going up.
