The oil giant BP has to wait for the tropical storm to pass before starting its drilling for the bottom kill process in the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico.
The firm has called off the drilling process of its relief well of 18,000 ft yesterday for next three or four days to wait for the storm to pass away. It has said it would not be able to work till Sunday at least.
Once the drilling process of the relief well finished it will be able to execute the bottom kill process by pumping mud and cement in to the well to seal the damaged well permanently. The oil giant has already done this approach on the top of the well but it's the time to pump mud and cement from the bottom.
The senior vice president of BP, Kent Wells has said the company does not want to take any risk in the stormy weather which could disrupt the drilling operation.
As the damaged well is temporarily sealed with a cap, there is no urgency to work in the bad weather.
