Following E. coli being found in Valley Meat Company’s products, about one million pounds of ground beef was recalled by the company.
Frozen beef patties are the products that are facing the heat. The patties being processed between October 2, 2009 and January 12, 2010, have a major chance of still being there with consumers and some grocery stores.
Despite the illness being first found in February, could not be traced until a few weeks ago.
So far from the meat, about seven people have been sickened. Places where the meat was sold are Texas, California, Arizona, Oregon, and internationally.
Grocery store chains and institutions got the products and under various labels, the products were sold under, including the Safeway store brand.
Officials say that the company which is based in Modesto, California, is cooperating with them and had no recalls until this one.
There were no recalls from the company in 50 years. The clusters were identified by the California Department of Health and forwarded the information on to the USDA.
