Doctors have stated that women who have faced a miscarriage do not have to wait for conceiving again for long.
The University of Aberdeen had concluded after conducting a study of about 30,000 women that the best chances of a healthy pregnancy were offered if conceived within six months after a miscarriage.
Data between 1981 and 2000 relating to women who had a miscarriage in their first pregnancy before going on to becoming pregnant again was seen by the researchers and they said that six months was the best to conceive after a miscarriage.
Dr Sohinee Bhattacharya, study leader said, “Women wanting to become pregnant soon after a miscarriage should not be discouraged.”
As there were less chances of ectopic pregnancy, termination or having another miscarriage among women who conceived within six months.
It was also noticed that women who conceived during this period had low chances of having a caesarean birth, a low birth weight baby and a premature baby.
Dr Bhattacharya, a lecturer in obstetric epidemiology, said, “Current World Health Organization guidelines recommend that women delay by at least six months.”
