Blizzard releases StarCraft II after more than a decadeBlizzard Entertainment has recently released its science-fiction strategy game’s second edition called, "StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty" for the PCs and Mac.

The original StarCraft was launched twelve years ago in 1998 and the fans have been waiting for a sequel of the game ever since. The comoany however was focusing on blockbuster online game "World of Warcraft."

The new version is a lot similar to the original one with a few exceptions. The new level starts in a similar way where a player lands on a new planet with few buildings and a handful of robots. The player than gather resources to build up and train forced and then attack the enemy in a surprise.

The new variations on the strategy keep the game interesting for the palyers. Sometimes the players have a more defensive role and other times a offensive role. The players have to escort civilians to escape ships.

The plot of the game revolves around human Terrans, the insectoid Zerg and the technologically advanced Protoss. "StarCraft II" tells the story from the Terran perspective and future additions with speak from the Zerg and Protoss sides.

The comoany has received a good response from the market with 1.5 million copies sold in the first 48 hours of its launch, the comoany said on Tuesday. The comoany claimed that it sold more than one million copies in the first
24 hours.

The game was simultaneously released in North America, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau on July 27.

Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said, "We launched StarCraft II in 11 different languages and on 5 different continents because we wanted to make sure as many players as possible were able to log on and play on day one."

The StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty comes with a price tag of $59.99.
