Leaked images and information about the latest Motorola handset, Droid 2 suggests that the much anticipated smartphone will be launched on August 12.
The leak has reportedly taken place from the carrier Verizon on which the device will make its debut in the United States. The date of august 12 is more trustable because it has features before on the leaked details about the phone.
The Droid 2 has been spotted a number of times along with Droid X. The Droid X is now available but there is no announcement about the Droid 2. The Android based series from the company has done well in the market.
The Droid 2 is expected to be based on Android 2.1 with MotoBlur and will be powered by OMAP 750 MHz one. It will have a 3.7-inch screen and 8GB of internal memory with an option to expand it though a MicroSd card. The device is also expected to feature a powerful 5 mega pixel camera with support for HD video recording.
Meanwhile, Motorola Droid is expected to be upgraded to the new Android 2.2 platform in the coming days. Verizon and Motorola have confirmed the Froyo upgrade just a day after Sprint made a similar announcement for HTC EVO 4G.
Some suggest that the other devices including Motorola Droid X or the HTC Droid Incredible will also get the upgrade in the coming week but no official announce has been made. Froyo is expected to increase the speed of the device mainly with CPU performance and app switching.
The upgrade will increase the Home screens from three to five an the Motorola Droid Android SecurityFroyo will make it more secure. The users will also be able to download Android apps on the MicroSd card.
