According to a new poll, in 25 years, Americans are consuming the highest amount of liquor.
The percentage of Americans who drink alcohol is 67 per cent. Since 1985 this is the highest percentage. The favorite pick is beer with wine and liquor following close behind.
It was seen that during the end of Great Depression in 1939, with a few exceptions, the number of Americans drinking has remained pretty stable.
In 1958 the number of Americans identifying themselves as drinkers was 55 per cent. From 1976 - 1978, about two decades later, the number of Americans calling themselves drinkers was 71 per cent, which is a huge jump.
Church attendance has a lot to do with consuming alcohol. It was seen that people who hardly visited the church were more likely to admit that they drink as compared to people who went to church regularly.
The poll was conducted last month for about two days in which about 1,000 people, who were 18 years and more, were asked related questions.
