McAfee to acquire tenCube security service provider

McAfee to acquire tenCube security service provider McAfee, Inc has said that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire tenCube, the provider of WaveSecure mobile security service.

The company aims to add the WaveSecure services to the Trust Digital deal. The WaveSecure’s locate, lock, back-up and wipe technology in Trust Digital’s enterprise mobility management along with McAfee’s mobile security technology will allow it to offer a comprehensive next generation mobility platform.

The WaveSecure mobile security service allows users to remotely control their devices, manage the data on their phones, ensure privacy in the event of device theft or loss, and enhance the possibility of recovering the phone.

McAfee will now be able to address the management and security of various types of devices with an advanced set of features through a single platform. tenCube is located mainly in Singapore and the acquisition is expected to complete sometime this month.

McAfee will be able to offer more language support and add the service to its endpoint protection and cloud capabilities. It might also develop a child locator service on the platform.

“Mobile devices have become an extension of our lives. Through this acquisition, McAfee can broaden its security capabilities and offer users protection and remote control of the phone whether it is in their possession or not. This means no more worries about the whereabouts of your phone or losing personal contacts, photos or messages,” said Darius Cheung, CEO of tenCube.
