Google attracting online game developers for ‘GoogleMe’

GoogleInternet giant, Google which is working on its own social networking site called, ‘GoogleMe’ to challenge the established players like Facebook is set to be in discussions with a number of online game developers to include their offering in the new service.

A Google official, Paul Adams earlier offered a preview to the upcoming ‘Google Me’ service. Mr. Adams released a 216-page document that analyses human interaction ways when they interact online and also focuses on social networks online and offline. Paul openly draws examples from competitors like Facebook and Twitter where a child can come across an inappropriate image on Facebook.

The release talked about the direction in which Google social networking will head in the future. Many people expect Google simply re brand its Orkut networking site and put in extra features like Google Friend Connect, Mail, Voice, Buzz, Wave, Picasa, Latitude or Youtube to make a social networking site of choice.

Google is reportedly in discussions with Playdom Inc., Electronic Arts Inc.'s Playfish and Zynga Game Network Inc. Google has not revealed as to when the new service will be launched.

Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt has not commented on the matter. When asked if the service will be similar to Facebook he said that the world does not need a copy of the same thing.

The focus on social networking areas from goggle indicates that the company wants to tap in to advertisement dollars. The social networking segment is already dominated with Facebook with more than half a billion active members and is set to touch one billion next year. Google will have to catch up very fast to be able to compete with the service.
